While many experts can provide legal advice or help with increasing your EBIDTA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization), the most important planning for transitions are the expectations, arrangements, and harmony among family and key staff members. Family businesses that focus only on contracts and finances but ignore the psychological side of transitions can run the risk of misunderstandings, arguments, and family estrangement. In this presentation, Dr. Troyer will discuss a step-by-step process that begins early and provides several key mindset shifts to help prepare leadership and the next generation for a harmonious family funeral business transition.

Key Takeaways:

  1. Examine the unique challenges that make it difficult for older generations to let go
  2. Explore the challenges facing the next generation
  3. Review the six reasons why planning for transition must happen immediately
