Description Funeral directors are exposed to constant grief and vicarious trauma in the workplace. This course has been developed for NFDA to help funeral professional establish a stress management plan. This presentation will allow funeral directors to discover their personal stress triggers and employ effective tools to reduce stress immediately. They will recognize how various personality types handle stress and identify which category their employees fit into, leading to more effective employee management.

Stress following the death of a loved one will also be addressed so that funeral directors can improve communication and meet the needs and of the families they serve. Practical approaches are offered to funeral service professionals to help them mitigate on-the-job stress and prevent professional burnout.

After completing this online course, you will be better able to:

  1. Differentiate between and recognize eustress and distress
  2. Identify how stress manifests in the funeral director’s body and discover personal stress triggers
  3. Employ ten different coping techniques for stress reduction
  4. Effectively support grieving clients with the distress associated with the death of a loved one
