Alternative Disposition

When it comes to honoring the deceased, there are several innovative and sustainable options beyond the conventional practices of burial. These alternative methods prioritize environmental impact, natural processes, and resource conservation. Let’s explore four alternative disposition methods:

Alkaline Hydrolysis, also known as “water cremation” or “aquamation,” is an emerging alternative to traditional cremation.

Cremation, while not as environmentally friendly as the other methods, cremation remains a widely practiced form of disposition.

Green Burial is a practice that emphasizes simplicity, natural decomposition, and minimal environmental impact. Unlike traditional burials, which often involve embalming chemicals and non-biodegradable materials, green burials take an eco-friendlier approach.

Natural Organic Reduction (NOR), sometimes referred to as “human composting,” or “Terramation” offers a sustainable way to return human remains to the earth.

These alternative disposition methods offer diverse choices for individuals and families seeking environmentally conscious ways to honor their loved ones. When helping families make decisions, consider their values, ecological impact, and local regulations.
